LBT sparring fitness at Brighton Martial Arts classes

Classes begin with warm-up yoga style stretches. Sparring as in the photo above is lots of fun, the process of learning to block your partners kicks and punches is all part of the belt grading system. Sparring also exercises your whole body from head to toe and will get your blood pumping. A the end of the class there is a cool down stretch to prevent any tightness the following day. Come and try it!

There are two types of muscle fibers that are used in Choi Kwang Do

Slow-twitch (Type I) muscle fibers are used when performing patterns with low or medium intensity, while fast-twitch (Type II) muscle fibers are used for more intense short bursts of anaerobic training such as speed drills and target attack drills. Choi Kwang Do patterns and speed drills utilize both sides of the body equally so that there is balanced development.
